Did you know that bridal sessions don't just have to have the bride? That's right, it's totally acceptable to get dressed up with your groom before the big day! In fact, it's very common in LDS weddings because often times weddings are scheduled in the middle of the day and don't offer ideal lighting situations.
Isn't this family beautiful!? They are a blended family of 8! They were so much fun to work with and I loved their Carolina blue, navy and white color palette!
I had the best time with Joyce Anne and Mike at their First Landing State Park Engagement Session! I love engagement sessions because I get to know the couple and talk all about how they fell in love and what they like to do together.
You won't want to miss hilarious moments and find out how Mike intercepted an arranged greek marriage. hahah!
Daniel met Jessica, at their church’s singles ward, six long years ago. She was successfully finishing up the last two years of her dental hygiene degree in Richmond. She caught many of the single guys’ attention, including Daniel, for many reasons. In the words of Daniel, “She was committed to her faith, kind to everyone, fiercely loyal to her friends and family, and absolutely gorgeous!”
Now that Martha and Joey are married, I can share her gorgeous Byrd Park Fall bridal session! (Be sure to check out their Gaie Lea Wedding HERE). Choosing a few images for this post was extremely difficult because she looked so stunning! I may or may not have delivered 300 final images. Yowza!
There I was....photographing a wedding at the Washington DC Temple and waiting for the couple to exit....
The sweetest blonde girl came up to me and told me she was engaged and asked for a business card. We had a great time chatting and she went on to tell me that she was my previous bride's roommate!
I have been dying to share this bridal session! Morgan and Cody were married on Saturday so now I can! This actually is Morgan's reception dress. She chose to do a bridal session in it because she really wanted a beach session and this one was much better for the high temperatures and location she chose. We had the best time getting to know one another and chatting about all things WEDDING! Morgan you are BREATHTAKING! I am so thankful you chose me to document such a special time in your life!
PS: Morgan made her own bouquet and did her own makeup for this session! Amazing!

I got a message on instagram back in the early spring. The woman looked so familiar from her profile picture, but it wasn't until we were on the phone together that we were able to make the connection! Amy and I used to go to the same class at the gym. She remembered me saying I was a photographer and found me through our boot camp teacher on instagram. Thank goodness for online connections because this couple (Amy and Joe) are incredible!
Martha and Joey are the sweetest couple ever! They live all the way out in Bristol, VA. And the fun thing about Bristol is that it splits the states of Virginia and Tennessee. There is a sign that crosses State Street that shows the dividing line. How cool is that!? It was pretty much like A Walk to Remember when Landon crosses off one of Jamie's bucket list items off by standing in two places at once. WATCH THAT CLIP HERE. If only there wasn't traffic and we were really able to do that. haha!
SO. MUCH. FUN! That is how I would describe my time with Kaitlin and John at their Virginia Beach Oceanfront engagement session. We laughed hysterically the entire time! Couples like this fill my heart with so much joy! What I loved even more, was having the opportunity to work alongside my husband, Justin, of Gibby Visuals. We love working together and feel like we give our clients the best experience when our photo and video services are combined!
My family and I recently went to a family reunion. We were on the road for 10 days, all over the state of Virginia. I already had a wedding scheduled at the Washington DC Temple so I made the most of it by scheduling 2 engagement sessions along the way. One was for Tona and Doug in Old Town Alexandria! This place is so adorable and we only got to explore a few streets before it started to rain :( I had a blast getting to know them and getting all the details about their DC Temple wedding next month! Isn't Tona's hair to die for? So pretty!
Ryan contacted be back in January to schedule a surprise proposal for his beautiful girlfriend, Anna Holland. We crafted up a secret plan to capture him proposing at the Virginia Beach oceanfront during their weekend getaway trip to the Patriotic Festival. Can I just stop for a minute and give him a fist bump for being so prepared and excited enough to hire a photographer to capture it all? What a catch!
Doing LDS Baptism Photos is one of my favorite types of photoshoots. I love to see these children get all dressed up and be excited for such a big moment in their lives. My own daughter is getting baptized this year and I am so excited about it! Daxton's mom is a good friend of mine and we had a great time walking about the beach together. Enjoy a few photos from his session!
I love taking pictures of large families. Everyone needs current family pictures! As families continue to grow, it gets harder and harder to make this happen. The Brimhall's had all of their children in town over the holiday break and decided to schedule a session with me. We met up in Sandbridge and had the beach all to ourselves. I had such a fun time capturing the entire group and each one of their individual units. They were playful and we had a great time! Here are a few pictures from their session :)
I first met Sonya back in 2013 when I photographed her older sister's wedding. Flash forward 4 years later and she emailed me about photographing her own wedding! I loved working with their family so of course I was excited when she contacted me.
Eden is the sweetest high school senior! Not only is she beautiful but she's also very ambitious! She runs a highly successful LulaRoe clothing business with her mom. She rocked a gorgeous blue Carly dress for one of her outfits during her session. Eden loves to be outdoors and specifically requested FLOWERS, greenery and lots of sunshine! By looking at the first picture, it's easy to see we nailed it! I'm so excited for everything coming up her future. I know she is going to do so much and have a blast at college!
It was so fun working with this sweet family again! Are these little guys models, or what? Last year, I photographed them in the country and you can see it HERE. Enjoy a few pictures from their session :)
This sweet girl celebrated her 8th birthday by having baptism photos done with me at the beach. She looked stunning in her cream colored maxi dress!
I've said it once and I'll say it again.....there is nothing better than a girl with beauty and brains! McKayla traveled from Utah to tour some colleges here on the East Coast. While here, she scheduled a senior photography session.
I adore Kim!!!! I love to meet intelligent, driven and successful young women! We met up in Smithfield, VA at Windsor Castle Park to celebrate her nursing school graduation with a photography session. We had the best light and the most beautiful weather.
Krystal and Paul....where do I even start with these two!? They are amazing and oh so funny! I met up with them at the beautiful Norfolk Botanical Gardens. After hearing how Paul, proposed, it makes total sense why they wanted to do their engagement session here.
Engagement sessions are my absolute favorite! I have such a blast getting to know my couples during this time. It's a chance to get comfortable with each other and gives us the opportunity to talk about the wedding day.
